Clouds are thoughts: exploration of desires and prayers.
I have always been fascinated by clouds as a child. I would spend great amount of times staring at them, as they change their forms, sometimes resembling a certain shape. At the very same time, thousands of thoughts have passed through my mind already. The clouds are like my thoughts, never stopped passing by and forever transforming.
At one point, I have come to believe that thoughts are very real. They are surges of energy and they can shift our lives. Just like Einstein once stated that the energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another. These thoughts never disappear or die, looping in this never-ending cycle. When you make a wish or pray, you use great amount of desires or energies which can be manifested into reality. My obsession with clouds grew even more as I find myself becoming one with them with my mood swings. That was how I started the cloud series.
Greatly inspired by Alvin Lucier’s ‘I Am Sitting in a Room’, where he recorded his voice in a room, played it back into the room, re-recording it and the process is repeated. But the resonance in the room created the effect that certain frequencies are emphasized as they resonate, until slowly the words became unintelligible transforming into pure harmonies and tones of the space itself.
I have always wanted to use my little spiritual discoveries in my artworks. That is why I love using delay effects and reverbs. The delay effects help me portray how thoughts are real and would come back around in a different form.
